Did you know that the ELI – Extreme Light Infrastructure – Laser Research Centre will be built and operated in Szeged? The ELI – Extreme Light Infrastructure – or as it is commonly referred to: the SUPERLASER will be one of the large research facilities of the European Union. Through this, the first structure in the world for studying the interaction between light and matter with ultrahigh intensity laser will be created with Hungarian cooperation. Did you know that Albert Szent-Györgyi was living and working in Szeged? For his research and discovery of vitamin C he has received the Nobel Prize in 1937. He was the Dean of the Medical Faculty, the Rector of the University of Szeged and the Chairman of the Rotary Club which is named after him. The city of Szeged, the University of Szeged and the Faculty of Medicine established a memorial room.
